マーヤ夫人の亡き後、王は妃の中の一人、マハーパジャパティ・ゴータミーに太子の養育を

任せました。彼女は太子を自分の子のように養育しました。マーヤ夫人が早くこの世を去った

のでシッダルタ太子は本当の母を知りませんでした。

After the death of Queen Maya, the King entrusted the bringing up of the Prince to Queen Maha Prajapati

Gotami-one of His Consorts and Prince Siddhartha's own step-mother. She looked after the Prince as her

own child. In consequence, Prince Siddharta did not know who His actual mother was.
